Shirley Ann Campbell, of Beach City, our beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and aunt, passed away gently, Thursday afternoon, March 14, 2024 – the eve of her 87th birthday. Born in Massillon, March 15, 1937, a daughter to the late Clair and Rhea (Barr) Caldwell, Shirley had attended Canton McKinley High School.
As a devoted wife and a loving and supportive mom, Shirley was a homemaker who created a warm and welcoming place for generations of family. She filled her home with laughter and happy memories of wonderful meals, special holidays, birthdays and other fun occasions. A woman of quiet faith, Shirley found joy in doing for others. Throughout her early years she was particularly close to her maternal grandparents, Clark and Bessie Barr. So, following Grandma Barr’s examples, Shirley always kept herself busy - she became an excellent cook and baker, enjoyed gardening, looking after her dogs, and in her leisure time, added ceramics to her list of hobbies.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband, Raymond E. Campbell, and siblings, Marjorie Hambuechen, Jean Butler, and Larry Caldwell; Shirley is survived by her children, Richard Campbell of Beach City, Sandy (Dale) Schemansky, of Canton, David (Linda) Campbell, of Jackson Township, and Sharon Campbell, also of Beach City. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pat (John) Williamson, of Michigan.
Shirley’s family and friends will gather in celebration of her life at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor Luke Vaughn will officiate, and burial will follow at East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. The family will receive condolences one hour prior to the service, from 10-11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning in the funeral home.
Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Shirley’s on-line guestbook.
