Benny F. Harper, 83, of Tuscarawas Twp., passed away quietly early Tuesday morning, April 10, 2018.  Born in Beckley, West Virginia, June 29, 1934, a son to the late Benjamin and Macie (Bailey) Harper, Benny was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army who earned his living as a truck driver, retiring after more than thirty years of safe and faithful service to Superior Brand Meats and Fresh Mark Inc.  A faithful and active member of Southwest Church of Christ in Canton, the church community held a very special place in his heart.  He loved the time he spent with family and friends; enjoying the outdoors, hunting, bowling and playing golf.
Predeceased by his parents and ten brothers and sisters; Benny is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Anker) Harper, of the residence; son, Steven Harper, of Waynesburg and daughter, Debbie Harper Bennett.  Also surviving is a large extended family including several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his sister, Delora Harper Dillon, of Beckley, West Virginia and brother, John Harper, of Justus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at the noon hour on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Evangelist John Ahmed will officiate and burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive condolences Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Ruth, Steve, Debbie, I am so saddened by the passing of your wonderful husband/father. He was certainly an inspiration to all of us with his beautiful smile and warm hugs. He was so active in our church services and that had to inspire some of the younger ones. I will surely miss him and want you to know that you ALL are in my thoughts and prayers. Love to all.

Dear Ruth & Family,
We both enjoyed seeing Benny at the rec center early each morning. He always had a good story to tell that would always end in a smile and a laugh. I know that walking some days was very difficult for him but I know he enjoyed our friendship as much as we did his. He will be missed but I am sure he is having a big reunion with all of his family in heaven. We will keep you all in our prayers. Sincerely, John & Sue McCallin

Please accept my deepest sympathy in your loss of Benny. I worked with him at Superior/Fresh Mark for 30 years, bowled with him at StarWay Lanes and enjoyed our talks at breakfast at the Cameo Grill. I would share your grief on Thursday except my brother's funeral is the same time.

Our thoughts and prayers are of and for the Harper Family at the passing of Benny.I learned to know Benny from golfing.I played many rounds of golf and ate many breakfasts with him.It was always a pleasure and an enjoyable time. He was one of the good old boys.
Rest in peace Benny. You are not with us anymore but we will always have the memories of you.
