William Robert “Bob” Phillips, 95, of Jackson Township, passed away quietly on Saturday morning, March 31, 2018, after suffering a stroke.  Born September 17, 1922, in Moundsville, West Virginia, a son to the late William and Laverne Phillips, Bob graduated from Barnesville High School with the Class of 1940.  He entered the US Army during World War II and served honorably in England and France.  A member of the faith community of First Baptist Church of Massillon for more than sixty years, he was also a member of the Faith Bible Class.  He retired as Chief Office Clerk after 37 years of service with Norfolk Southern Railroad.  Bob and his late wife, Geraldine, as well as he and his current wife, Marian, enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their motor home with “Sandy” in tow.  He also enjoyed remodeling and decorating their home.  
Preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 45 years, Geraldine G. Phillips, who passed away in 1991; Bob is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marian L. Phillips; son Robert (Sally) Phillips, daughter, Patricia (Dave) Payette and son, Timothy (Ana) Phillips; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Mrs. Dorothy Long, of Ashland, Ohio, brother, Leroy Phillips, of Louisville, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon.  Rev. Edd Matako of First Baptist Church will officiate and burial with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive condolences on Friday evening, April 6, from 4-6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Saturday, from 10-11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions to advance the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church of Massillon will be gratefully acknowledged and warmly appreciated.
